The expense tracker that never sees your money

Mona runs entirely on your phone. No bank login, no account, no server holding your statements. Your data syncs to your own Google Drive — or nowhere at all.

Why you can believe the privacy claim

Not a policy promise — a consequence of how the app is built.

Why “no backend” is the whole point

Most expense trackers ask you to connect a bank account or forward statements to their servers. That means a company you have never met holds a complete record of what you earn and where you spend it — and becomes a target worth attacking.

Mona has no server to attack. Expenses are parsed on your device, stored in a database on your device, and backed up only to a private folder in the Google Drive you already own. The developer cannot read any of it, because there is no copy to read.

What it does

Expenses

Import bank statements (PDF, CSV, XLSX), scan receipts, or read UPI and bank alert SMS on Android. Duplicates are caught before they reach your ledger.

Net worth

Track accounts, investments, property and loans in one figure that updates as you record things.

Document vault

Passports, policies, warranties and IDs — encrypted on device, synced to your Drive, searchable offline.

Family sharing

A shared household budget and task list, with membership by Google account. Shared expenses only — personal spending stays private.

Gift register

Record wedding and function gifts by guest and family, and see what is owed in return.

Travel & trips

A trip diary with a budget that tracks spending linked to that trip.

Common questions

Does Mona need my bank login?

No. Mona never asks for bank credentials and has no way to connect to a bank. You import statements yourself, or let it read transaction alert SMS on Android. Nothing is fetched from your bank.

Where is my data stored?

In a database on your device. If you connect Google Drive, an encrypted backup is written to a private folder in your own Drive using the drive.file scope — which only grants access to files Mona itself created, not the rest of your Drive.

Can the developer see my expenses?

No. There is no server, so there is no copy of your data anywhere the developer can reach. This is a property of the architecture, not a policy promise.

Does it work offline?

Yes, fully. Google Drive sync is optional — the app is completely usable with no account and no network connection.

Is there a subscription?

No. Mona is a one-time ₹999 purchase for lifetime access, after a free trial. There is no recurring charge.
